UFO Challenge

I know......... it isn't quite March 1, but Smokey ((my cat) and I thought we would go ahead and pick the next number.

For those of you wanting to know what the UFO Challenge is, click on the picture of the Jupiter 2 in my side bar, it will take you to the post that has all of the information. This is a no pressure activity, just a way to get some of your UFOs out of the way.

So, Smokey says the number is 8, because she has 8 toes on her front paws.

Have fun getting another UFO finished!!!!

Happy Fasnacht Day!!

Tomorrow is Fasnacht Day; the day before Ash Wednesday when you are supposed to use up your sugar and stuff and get ready for lent.

My twins want their Dad to take them to school tomorrow so they can go to the store and get a donut. They usually ride in with me but we go in before the store opens.

Talk about totally donut-addicted..............

Nothing but Scraps

So I've been reading on Twiddletail's blog about her challenge to make something using Nothing but scraps. Honestly, most of my scraps are in strip form; I rarely keep anything smaller than 2 inches (I'm sure Bonnie is frowning at me right now). To be honest, I have been thinking on this for a few weeks now and perhaps what I need to do is put a box or bin next to my cutting table and when I get those small pieces, just throw them in there and use them up when I can.

So, if you want a scrappy challenge, head on over to Twiddletail's blog and tell her you want to play. I think it will be fun to see what people come up with.

192 Half Square Triangles

Well I took a sick day today...... I could feel my monthly migraine starting last night. So after the meds kicked in and took care of my head, I was able to get a bunch of strips cut and make my 192 HSTs for Judy Laquidara's Quilting Along project.

This is going to be a lot of fun and getting it done in steps is a big help. The Bear Paw is one of my favorite blocks. With my wild fabric choices I've decided to call this one "Bear-Inagaddadavida".

Kitty Weight Watchers

Smokey went to the vet today. While she had lost nearly a half pound, she still weighed in at 11 pounds. The vet is concerned. So we have to cut back on the amount of dry food we set out and try some canned food to cut down on the carbs. She also suggested putting the litter box somewhere where she gets exercise to get to it.

Ok, so we need to put the cat on a diet. Why isn't it this easy for me?????

Wouldn't Bob and Jillian (Biggest Loser) be proud????

Gotta have notion

Wouldn't this be a fun addition to a retreat......... or even just your sewing room? It is amazing what a little steam can do for your spirit

Judy Laquidara's Quilt-Along

I know, I know........... I don't need another project. But I think having one that is given to me in steps will force me to keep up and get it done.

Judy had posted a note to blogland that she was going to host a Quilt-Along. So in the 11th hour I joined. I love the Bear Paw pattern and she made hers with a stripe. Low and behold I had a large piece of a wild, zig-zag stripe I had bought at KeepSake Quilting in New Hampshire 10 years ago. I think it will be a great project and I can't wait to see how it makes up.

Mini-Miranda

I made this up last weekend and am only now uploading the picture and posting. This is the latest gift for my secret angel at school and from the messages I received she loved it. She is away in Ireland this week so I'm wondering if it went with her.

The pattern is super easy, but I highly recommend using a walking foot through the entire project due to bulk.

Apologies for Whining

My last post sounded whiny and selfish and for that I apologize. It is amazing how selfishishness can take over when we are the slightest bit inconvenienced.

I made last night's post from my husband's office; we were there to take showers, and I guess being tired and grumpy I wanted the entire world to be my bar-tender, all the while knowing there is always someone else who has it worse off than I do (unfortunately).

So I will do my best not to be a selfish whiner anymore. Thank you for listening (the power was back on by 8 pm).

Quilty Hugs!!

Mid-Atlantic Quilters Blog Ring

I have a strong aversion to Ringsurf. No matter how many times I type in the email and password I wrote down it will not let me log in to my rings.

So I have deleted the link to this blog ring from my blog. Anyone else who happened to be a part of it, please delete as well. I cannot get into the ring administration site to work with it.

Sorry about this. Ain't technology grand??

Pulled Pork BBQ

My hubby is a BIG BBQ fan. When we go see the Law Student in Richmond we have to visit the Smokey Pig or Buzz and Ned's.

I found a recipe for Pulled Pork BBQ on the A Year of Crockpotting blog. I bought the pork shoulder while hunting and gathering yesterday and it cooked all day today. With some cole slaw and keiser rolls, it is an awesome meal. Hubby really liked it. I highly recommend the recipe.

UFO Challenge

Who out there has UFOs? Come on....... be honest........... raise those hands!!!!!

Ok, who's up for a challenge to get them done?

Some of the gals on my yahoo group, Stash_Quilters, have taken up the challenge. Each of them chose 11 UFOs, giving each a number 1-11. On the first of the month (January - November) one of my kids chooses a number and that is the UFO you work on and finish for that month.

Sounds simple enough right?

So I thought, why not invite all of my blog friends to play? All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me you want to play. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT I CAN RESPOND TO YOUR COMMENT. Then create your list of UFOs. ONLY PICK 10 (we won't have one in December). February's number is 5 , so you can get started on that one today.

There isn't any prize for finishing; just the satisfaction that you got something finished that has been staring at you for how long!!!

And thank you to Lost in Space for the picture of the Jupiter 2.....that was one of my favorite shows growing up.
