A day with the girls

Yesterday I spent some time with my bestest friends.... the Sundae Quilters. That's me in the maroon, Belinda is next to me, Fran, Judie, and Beth in the back, Carole, Bonnie, and Duchess (Fran's dog) on the couch, and Marie, the one who figured out how to set the timer on the camera, is on the floor in the front.

We always have such a good time together; it is amazing how we can inspire each other, laugh, carry on, and actually get something done all at the same time.

I love these gals!!!

Hum, Hum, Hum went the motor....

Ok, so my Bernina isn't a trolley........... but I SEWED TODAY!!! I haven't done any major sewing in weeks.... I'm going through withdrawal.

I know, straight lines diagonally across squares isn't much (I'm making quarter square triangles)... but to me, it's heaven.

Thank you Judy Garland!!

Fabric help needed.....

Why is it that when you want a certain fabric, or print, or color, you can't find it?

I'm working on my Grandmother's Flower Garden using 1930's reproduction prints, and I'd like to find some prints that have grey (or gray) in them. I've seen them in the past but never when I'm using them. People have sent me swap blocks and grey 30's prints are included in them. There can also be other colors in the print.. red, black, orange, etc.

If anyone happens to have a FQ that you are willing to trade let me know. I actually only need enough to cut twelve 2.5" squares out of; so if you are willing to trade strips that would be great.

Hi!!! Remember me?????

I am finally getting in some serious fabric therapy today. The last couple of weeks have been very hectic with weather, kids schedules, stuff at school, etc.

So what am I working on? Some friends and I decided that we are going to share fabrics and work on Bonnie Hunter's Chunky Churn Dash pattern. I love swapping scraps; we did this when we made her Pineapple Blossom quilt. I love looking at that quilt and remembering who brought the fabrics to share. It is a great way to spend time with your BFFs.

This week I need to sew the strip sets together so that they can be traded and then each individual will cut them down into what they need. I also need to cut the 2.5" strips to share and then my own fabric for the centers and the light/dark for the hourglass blocks.

Back to my therapy!!!

UFO Challenge

Did I choose a September UFO Challenge number? It isn't on my sidebar and if I did I can't remember what it was. Any of you that are doing this, could you let me know? Then I can pick one for October (or did I do that already).

While I'm sharing.............

this guy (or gal) was on my back door this morning. First one I've seen this fall. Praying mantis have always fascinated me.

Bagged a cat

Abby insisted on sharing this picture of Smokey..... dumb cat.

Homemade Apple Sauce

When I was little and we lived in Louisville, KY we would go over to my grandmother's house for the Sunday meal after church. I remember in the fall she would have homemade applesauce. It was sooooooo good.

When I got married and Erin was little, we would visit with Kevin's grandparents (in the house we live in now) and Gram taught me how to make applesauce. She had this cool thing that to me looked like something out of a Sci-fi movie. It is a cone shaped sieve with a wooden pestle that you use to mush the apples through and into a bowl.

So, while grocery shopping today I bought some Macintosh apples and came home and made applesauce. Abby insisted a photo journal needed to be made and posted on the blog. It is so yummy!!!! Can't wait to eat some tonight with supper.

Menopause Sucks

At least that is what I'm going to blame. I woke up with a wicked headache today. I figured it was from sleeping in (passed 5:30 am) and knowing I should have taken my Excedrin Migraine pills I only took a Motrin. Needless to say at 11 am I wasn't feeling any better so I took the Excedrin and spent another four hours in my lazy-boy with Abby's floppy elephant on my head to block out the light.

This is the fourth time in 10 days that I've taken those **(#&$ pills. I'm going to make sure I speak with the GYN later this month about this. It's getting old..................
