Frickin' Chicken Winner

Wisdom-tooth child (Beth) has chosen the winner of the Frickin' Chicken Giveaway. She chose the number 12, and the winner is Gari!!!. I'll be emailing Gari and sending the chickens on their way.

Thank you all for clucking along.

Is this really a sale????

First of all, an apology to any men out there that read my blog.

I received a catalog in the mail today, bras are on sale. Woohoo!! Time to replace some so they are brand spanking new when school starts.

Ok, so after picking out four, I total up the bill, add the shipping, have to pay tax on the shipping to Pennsylvania and the grand total is $97.36!!!!

Is this really a sale?????? I'm starting to think that burning these puppies isn't such a bad idea after all.

Oh the price we pay to stay perky; I hope all of you men appreciate this and don't bitch about the bills when they come.

Cross your heart hugs to all of you gals out there,

Frickin' Chicken Giveaway

Another "When am I going to get this project done" moment has hit. I had thought about making another Pineapple Blossom quilt over Bonnie Hunter's pattern using chicken fabrics. My plan was to title it "Pineapple Chicken".

Reality has bit me in the butt again and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. When WILL I get all of this done?????

So I've decided to pass this project on to someone else who will totally enjoy them. Chickens really aren't my thing anyway.

This is going to be a really quick giveaway................ 24 hours only. So leave a comment (Remember I have to be able to get in touch with you if you win) and tomorrow (Monday, June 29) at 4:30 pm EST I will draw the winner.

Have fun!

We have survived

One of the twins, Beth, got all four of her impacted wisdom teeth removed yesterday and she must be a miracle child .............. I think that at this moment she is going to warm up a piece of pizza and going to try and nibble on it with her front teeth.
Saturday morning update: No pizza was harmed in the making of supper last night. I think the stiffness is settling in and she just didn't want to admit it.
Thank you to those who have left comments of encouragement. She is a trooper and so far doing well.

A gift from Down Under

A few months ago I found the cutest bag picture on a blog and I mentioned in a post how much I liked it. Low and behold, Lissa Jane found it for me and sent it. BUT........... it was like Christmas exactly six months early!!!!

What a wonderful collection of goodies (and chocolate, its in the kitchen). I can't wait to spend some time with the magazine and hopefully I'll get to read through the pattern and get it made this summer.

Thank you so much Lissa!!!

Back to School

I'm probably going to be a little quiet this week. I'm taking a class (all day, all week) on Technology in the Classroom. Needless to say it may be intense at times and I won't be blogging a whole lot (unless I need something totally un-related to school to get my mind re-charged LOL).

Today we manipulated things in Word, and while I've done a lot with Word I did learn how to Group objects and text into one unit..... that helped. We also began working with Movie Maker. I've worked in this program twice with the help of my daughter Abby (you know you are techno-challenged when your 15-year old daughter can teach you what to do).

So, please understand that I am here, I haven't forgotten about you all and I wish I could just view blogs all week (oh, and sew).

Back to school hugs to you all!!!

Happy Father's Day!!!

It's Kevin's day. Abby and Beth and I got up and made him scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast for brekkie. His gift included a redware pie plate, Pieces of Eight, and a journal. Kevin does Civil War civilian re-enacting, and these are the things he wanted to put in his camp box.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!!!

Road Trippin'

Wow!! What a day. And it was all thanks to my BFF, Beth. She arranged for members of my guild (Chambersburg Quilt Guild) to visit three shops between Annapolis and Gaithersburg.

Our first stop was Cottonseed Glory in Annapolis.......... LOADS of Fabric. I purchased quite a few 30's prints for my Grandmother's Flower Garden and a couple of patterns. There were some other fabrics calling my name, but I showed restraint.

Our second stop (after lunch) was at Tomorrow's Treasures. Wonderful shop and the lady that cut my fabric, Phyllis, was a hoot!!! Totally a kindred spirit. I bought a bunch more 30's prints and some Flamingo fabrics to make a bag for a friend.

Our final stop was Capital Quilts in Gaithersburg. Wonderful shop and loads of fabric to choose from. This time I avoided the 30's prints and got a cool Messenger Bag Pattern and fabrics to make it. My BFF will be totally surprised......... it's PINK!!!!!

The back-end of the van was so full, I was sure it was going to drag all the way home LOL!!!

The girls that went had a great time and a couple are ready to go again. I'm sure there are many more shops for us to explore down around Baltimore and DC.

Blogging is Dangerously Addictive

Danger Will Robinson!!!

Blogging is dangerously addictive LOL. I love looking at blogs, and then commenting on blogs, and finding new blogs to explore when I look through the comments that were made before mine.

I do get frustrated when there is a blog I want to look at and it won't let me connect........ but I understand that some people want to be private.

I'm now up to 169 on my Bloglines feed. Hmmmmmmmm wonder if I'll make it to 200....... that could definitely be a reason for a giveaway.

Good intentions (aka High Expectations and lack of motivation)

*sigh*.................... can you tell I'm having a reflective moment?

I just went through a stack of magazines I had collected. This is why I don't buy them like I used to. When am I going to get to all of these projects? Why did I save these in the first place?

Oh yeah........ that project is cool; oh I could use all of my blues in that one (like using all of something will ever happen - not in this lifetime baby!). This would make a great gift........ for someone.......... some day.

Who am I kidding???????? There are days I think I could hold a yardsale just for fabric and still not lighten my load.

I think I'm also feeling a little 'lost' now that school is out. So much of my time was spent at school, or doing something for school, or thinking about school............ now what do I do???

Another deep sigh................ I'll figure it all out; just in time for school to start again and then start wishing I had more time to sew.

Musing Hugs,

Need help finding a blog

I hate it when I decide to go through and delete emails and then realize I probably deleted something I wanted.

Anyway, a few months ago, someone posted a picture and information about these cute wooden boxes for holding sewing notions that her hubby had built; and I contacted her about whether or not they were for sale and she said yes and well, now I can't find the blasted email.

Anyone have a clue who that might be???? I want to say she is in California but I'm not sure.

Thanks for your help!

Clueless in PA,

Appliance woes..............

We are dealing with the next chapter in our appliance replacement story; but let me back up a little bit.

We moved into this house (his grandparents' house) 11 years ago. Within two months, the dishwasher died and we replaced it (it has since been replaced again). A year or two after that the oven/range died and we replaced it.

THE REFIGERATOR WILL NOT DIE!!! But, it is the old "defrost it yourself" model and frankly, I'm tired of dealing with it. Needless to say it needs done again and out of the blue hubby says "Why don't we bag defrosting it and buy a new one.

yahoo!!!!! there is a god!!!

Of course, after looking at refrigerators last night, we are going to have to tear out some cabinets to make room for a new one. Refrigerators in the 50's and 60's were much smaller than they are today.

So, I'll be buying ice sometime soon and defrosting the fridge. Tearing up my kitchen isn't on the calendar until AFTER the guild quilt show (which I am in charge of).

Here's to Happy Appliances!!!

School's Out Giveaway Winner!!!!

Ok, I tried to figure out how to get that #)$*(#)U$ random number generator to show up on the blog, but I can't. So I'll resort to the old fashioned way and get one of the kids to choose a number.

So Abby - or as she calls herself my Helper Fairy - has chosen the number 3. The winner is Pat.

Thank you all for playing; and if anyone can help this 'techno-loser' figure out how to get the random number generator thingy to show up on the blog, I'd really appreciate it.

Bustin' my................

STASH!!! Bustin' my stash!

I just love catching you all like that :o)

Anyway, I've been busy this weekend finding projects, and trying to finish them. I don't have any pictures right now, but needless to say I am making headway.

I pulled out a Halloween fabric Turning 20 Again and pieced together the backing with more Halloween prints.......... it went to Donna (my longarmer) today. Then I pulled out the Turning 20 Again blocks I made from the Paris Cats line that Benartex had a couple of years ago. I don't think I'm going to border it so I'll use the rest of the fabric I have for the backing and binding.

It feels good to get some UFOs nearer to completion. When they are all quilted and bound I'll get you pictures..... I promise.

UFO Hugs!

School's Out Giveaway!!!

Have you figured out I'm happy????????

So in order to celebrate the survival of my first official year of teaching, I've decided to have a giveaway.

Some would find it hard to believe I'm going to part with some of my Pansy fabric........ but honestly, I don't know what I'm going to do with them, so perhaps you might. There are 12 Fat Quarters here and I know someone out there is going to fall in love with them just like I did.

Leave a comment and tell me what your plans are for the summer- but remember I must have a way to get in touch with you if you win. I'll draw the winner on Monday, June 15 at noon EST.

Good Luck!!

Smokey's thoughts on Strawberry Jam

Obviously she thinks we weren't paying enough attention to her........ typical cat.

Scratch one thing off the summer "to-Do" List

The girls and I slept in today (till 8 am............... that is major late compared to 5:15 am). After we got our sorry butts moving, we drove out to the Amish fruit stand and I bought 16 quart of YUMMY strawberries.

Two hours later, we have oodles of yummy jam. Having two 15-year old helpers is a God-send..... but honestly, there are days I wish they were still little.

Anyway, here are some pictures............. and of course, the occasional 'nomming' of a berry during the process.

Berry Hugs!!!

It's here........... it's finally here!!!

Summer's here and the time is right........ for dancin' in the street!!!

Ok, so I'm not dancing in the street (it is raining after all), but today was the last day of school. The students left at 10:20 am and I was gone at 1 pm.

What will tomorrow bring?

Making Strawberry Jam, shampooing carpets, washing down woodwork, .............. my kids love summer.

Which Bloglist service do you use?

I have bloglines loaded onto the lap top. I like it, but I get frustrated when it only shows me partial posts for some blogs and full posts for others. I keep adding to my blog list (up to 153) and I want to make sure I visit each and everyone of you when you post.

So, I'd like to hear from you all and find out how you keep track of the blogs you follow. Can I just transfer my list if I change? Having to go through and manually load each and everyone will be a pain...... but I'll do it if I have to........... I don't want to miss out on anything.

Thank you for your input. Have a great quilty day!

WOW!! Thank you all so much for commenting ............... I have definitely learned something today. I'll just keep clicking on posts and opening up blogs. I always find a new blog to explore that way. Quilty Hugs!

Washington DC Field Trip

I survived!!!!!

Yesterday I was in Washington, DC with 130 10th Graders and 22 other adults. It turned out to be a great day and the kids behaved very well. My mentor teacher has taken this trip for 15 years and said this was, by far, the best group yet.

We started out our day on the mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the WW II Memorial. The kids were left on their own for about 2 hours to get rid of that "on the bus" energy. We then headed to the Holocaust Museum for two hours and I have to say that two hours is not enough time to experience it all. I was on the fourth floor (this is where you start) and looked at my watching and realized I had been there for nearly 45 minutes. Needless to say the other three floors were done very quickly. I missed the opportunity to speak with a survivor and didn't get to read as many things as I wanted to. I told hubby that we are definitely going back.

The final stop of the day was the National Zoo (not that I already hadn't spent hours with a bunch of monkeys anyway LOL). It was a nice time and the animals are always fun to look at. It finally rained on us there, but didn't last too long.

I thought I'd share a few pictures from the zoo with you. Enjoy!!!
