Started a new Yahoo Group

I know there are some of you that will read that post title and think "Why did she start a new group??? She just left a couple of others!!"

Well, here is the reason. A couple of gals and I were on another list and got tired of being treated like children and talked down to by the list owner. Some of us have no problem with 'non-quilty' conversation - I mean, we are human and we don't live our entire lives in the sewing room.

So the three of us got together and started Stash_Quilters. You can probably guess from the name that we want to use up the fabric that we have. We also want to share in our lives, joys, bumps in road, etc. And I know that with the three of us running the group, I for one will not get overwhelmed and feel that I am not participating (AKA having to run the entire show). Does that make sense?

I love Crocs!!

There has been quite a lot of talk on the Machine Quilter's Professional yahoo group lately about Crocs. I love 'em!!!!!

I have six pairs so far; 2 Mary Jane, 2 Cayman, 1 Alice and 1 Sandal (Don't know what it is called). I don't wear the Alice much cause it cuts my heel (damn wide feet). In fact I've only worn them once and probably won't again.

My goal is to get as many colors as I can LOL............. next pair will be Maroon, that 's our High School Color (With grey) and now that I'm a teacher, well, I gotta have it!

I got my QFAH Flimsy finished!!!

Earlier this year, Judy Laquidara graciously shared a project with her on-line friends and called it Quilt for an Hour. I finally got the borders on mine today. I chose Black/Yellow/White as these are the colors for Randolph-Macon College where my daughter was an undergrad.

So now, I am wondering.......... should I quilt it with white thread, yellow thread, black thread, or a black/white varigated??

September 11

It is hard to believe it has been seven years. I remember thinking "Will we ever get passed this?"

My step-mom found a Power Point of 9/11 photographs and sent it to me. So today in my classes I took five minutes and showed them to my students. I told them "This is your Pearl Harbor, or your Challenger disaster. A defining moment in history that you will always remember."

I survived

First of all thank you to everyone who posted well wishes on yesterdays post. I really appreciate the support from all of my blog friends.

Well I survived the first day. Needless to say I am already a little behind in my plans, but it will all work on in the end.

I woke up at 4:00 am and couldn't get back to sleep so got up at 5:00 and started the day. Man I hope I sleep tonight

First Day of School

Tomorrow (September 2) is the first day of school in our district. It is the first day of High School for the twins, and the first day for me as a hired, working on permanent tenure, teacher. Of course, I cannot get my class lists to upload into the grading program and I cannot get my voice mail system to register, but other than that I am ready.

Abby helped me create a power point to go over my syllabus and classroom management plan. Now I just hope that the computer will talk to the smart board.

Hopefully I'll sleep tonight.
