I love my husband!!!!!

My husband is such a sweetie!!! He took the day off so that we could get some stuff done around the house and then he went to an estate sale to look at some antique rifles and pistols. Well on the online auction listing I saw this lovely pink and green applique quilt and I ooooohed and aaahhhhed but I figured it would go for a high price.

He bought it!!!! I can't believe it.

He also got an antique (a lot of feedsack) scrappy log cabin top ............ can you believe it? They obviously didn't know what they were selling.

I love this guy.

My Birthday and my 100th post!!!!

So here it is....... my birthday AND my 100th post!!!!!!!!!! And one of YOU will get the present.

Leave a comment on my blog before midnight Eastern Standard Time (US) Wednesday, April 30th. Please make sure that I can reply to you so that I can get your address (don't post that information on the blog).

On Thursday I will pick a name out of a hat and whomever is chosen will win this lovely pincushion.

Finally Picked my Orange Crush Mystery Colors

I finally got my yardage pieces for the Orange Crush mystery from Bonnie Hunter. I chose a lime green, salmon red, black, and a blue with 'bubbles' on it. I had to go to the quilt shop for the green, red, and black........ the blue is from my stash.

I don't have a lot of yardage that isn't earmarked for something else or wasn't bought to go with a focal print. Most of my yardage that is 'just yardage' is made up of focal prints.... thus having to go buy more yardage to use it in a quilt. Am I doing this backwards??

Anyway, I'll wash and press these and wait for Step #2. I know Bonnie is visiting guilds in Maryland right now and I hope she is having a wonderful time. I am looking forward to her visit to my guild in October.

Beth and Violet

Violet decided Beth needed help waking up the other day. Beth sleeps on her tummy, so Violet jumped up on her back and proceeded to do the "Kitty Cha Cha Cha".

Silly Violet :o)

1930's Repro Fabrics and my Yahoo Group

I love 1930's reproduction fabrics. I think it comes from loving the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt when I was little..... and totally loved to death (I just found out it was actually my older sister's quilt..... oh well).

So my love of these fabrics translated into a group on Yahoo......... I call it Feedsack Friends. We just finished swapping various sizes of Churn Dash blocks and they turned out really nice.

Our new swap is the Pieced Tulip. I made one up to show the gals and I am hoping it goes over well. I spent much of yesterday designing a quilt with it in EQ6.......such great practice using the program.

Anyway, if you like 30's fabrics and want to join the group, here is the address: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/feedsackfriends/

We try to have at least 2-3 swaps each year. So far the blocks have been really beautiful and the fabrics are lovely...... some of which I've never seen.

Back to the sewing room!

The computer is dead

Ok, I just got the word that my just three-year-old hard drive has died. Somehow I don't think they should die after three years. So I am waiting to hear how much this is going to cost me. I told dh that if it is cheaper to get a new one, I'm going shopping for an HP. I'm tired of dealing with DELL and not knowing what language I need to speak or where the 'tech person' is from.

Ain't life grand?

I'm still waiting for the third shoe.

Weekly update April 6

I honestly don't feel like I accomplished much this week. I felt sort of shlumpy again... I'll blame this weather this time.

What I accomplished:
  • cut 2 inch strips from 24 different fabrics for a Trip Around the World
  • finished Step 1 in the Orange Crush Mystery from Bonnie Hunter
  • bought a new/used Dodge Grand Caravan (yes they totalled the PT Cruiser)

My goals:

  • keep the van in one piece
  • put the last border on my stripey wallhanging
  • continue working on my Trip Around the World
  • get ready for the cast party at the Middle School Friday night (They are doing Aladdin)
  • start packing for retreat

Hopefully I can accomplish those five things.

New Ring Surf set up

Is it just me or is anyone else unhappy with the new Ring Surf set up? How do you find the URL of the blog you are visiting? Sometimes I like to link to someone's blog when I am sharing information...... and the only URL I see is for Ring Surf? Can anyone help me with that?
