Parent-Teacher Conference Time

It's that time of year - parent teacher conferences. Honestly I don't mind them. Since I only teach part time I only have to put in 3-1/2 hours for conferences in order to get November 11 off. So between emails, phone calls, and 'live' conferences I'll make that time without a problem.

Of course, the parents I need to see don't come and I'm not sure how to deal with that. But that is another post.

I am sooo glad that is all behind me! Although as the librarian I seldom had conferences. Quilting forever, school whenever! But having a whole extra day off is wonderful! Enjoy.

We don't have those kind of conferences. I wish we did!! We have them whenever a parent wants one - during our planning period. Some weeks we get three conferences - which leaves us only 2 planning periods.

The teachers in the school where I am a secretary would agree with your statement of *needing to see* certain parents, but just like you they are concerned about how to get those parents in! The conferences for our building *next week*!!

Isn't that always the way it is, those parents you need to see most are the ones least likely to show up. Still, it's always good to establish that face to face contact. This year for the firs time ever I had O conferences. I just made two quick phone calls and caught up on grading for the rest of the day!
