Strawberries!!! Strawberries!! Strawberries!!!!

Guess what season it is???? Last night my hubby and I made 24 jars of jam. There is also some more in a box in the fridge that I didn't have clean jars for. I want to buy 9 more quart of berries and make at least 24 more jars....... hopefully that should last us the year. But the way my kids eat strawberry jam, who knows.

This morning I got ambitious and made a strawberry pie. It is so easy. Water, sugar, cornstarch, and strawberry jello......... plus the berries and a baked pie crust. YUM!!!!! Abby thought we needed to blog a picture of the pie, so she took the picture before I cut into it.

Though I am not a pie fan, the jars of jam look yummy! Strawberry preserves on butter whole grain bread is my idea of heaven!!

Looks so good...my strawberry plants are starting to produce pretty good now. I have a small patch...what we don't eat fresh I freeze for later on.

You can enjoy the fruits of your labor all year long with that jam.

Our strawberry season is only just starting, so they're not cheap enough to make jam yet, but I can't wait. There's nothing more appetising than the smell of strawberry jam cooking.

Isn't it a satisfying feeling seeing all those jars lined up, and the kitchens clean and you are done with strawberry jam making for the year, and a pie waiting for you (I celebrated my jam making with a piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie). Next up peaches!

I love to see the jars all lined up in rows after canning. The jam looks delicious. Our berries are just beginning to ripen.

Still waiting for local strawberries here in Minnesota (soon, though!). Nothing tastes more like summer in the middle of winter than homemade strawberry jam.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING beats homemade strawberry jams on a warm piece of toast!!!! WOW! This post truly is making my mouth water!!!

This is the first I've visited your site---you left a comment on my blog not too long ago.

Erin's quilt is INCREDIBLE! That fabric is amazing!

When can I come over for some pie? Looks so good! I will have to buy some strawberries tomorrow and do the same. I picked two tiny strawberries from my little plant yesterday. LOL

Oh yum - bring on the 'homemade' bread and strawberry jam -- it just can't get any better then that, especially in the winter months!
