Quiltville Mystery Step 4

Yahoo!!! I finished Step 4 of Bonnie's Mystery Quilt before Step 5 is posted. I must say, working with bias triangles is not my fave thing to do, but these tiny pieces were really easy to deal with.

Well so much for lazy and calm. My mother-in-law brought over a gift for Smokey and Violet. They each received a little pouch of catnip and well, you guessed it.....they are hooked. Does anyone know of a kitty rehab program???

My 'To Do' List

I took the time today to come up with a 'to do' list and posted it on the blog. Am I out of my mind or what????? I'm trying to think positively about this............ maybe seeing this list on my blog AND in my sewing room will actually get me to working on this stuff. Some of it has been on the list for a while. Do any of you make a 'to do' list?? Does it help? I can use all the good karma I can get.

Carolina Crossroads Part 3

Well........... Bonnie just posted this yesterday and graciously is giving us plenty of time to make them, but, I figured since next week will be baking week, I had better get them done now. I can't wait to see what this mystery turns out to be.

Ice, Ice, Baby

Today was ice day (and you thought it was Thursday). I don't think we got the ice they thought we were going to get, but it was enough to keep the kids home from school. So, the twins and I just vegged around, watching movies and sewing.

Here are a couple of pictures I took out the back door. Thankfully it was no where near as icy as out in the central plains. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow and then get messy again Saturday night. Winter is here!!!!

Quiltville Mystery Part 2

The Carolina Crossroads mystery from Bonnie Hunter is moving along well. The second step is to make 100 ninepatch blocks using three colors. My quilt is being done in black, white, and red. The ninepatch blocks are only 3.5 inches square. These were fun to make. I wonder what Part 3 will bring??

Penguin Bucket Tote

My oldest daughter, who is now 21, loves Penguins and has loved Penguins since she was almost three. We visited Sea World in Ohio and all she wanted out of the entire park was a stuffed Penguin - she named him Peanut Butter and he went to college with her.

With the help of my friend Beth, I made this Bucket Tote for her. The tutorial can be found on the Welsh Quilter's blog. The instructions are very easy to follow and only takes a day to make it.

I would highly recommend the use of your walking foot. When you put the pieces together and sew through all the batting, it really helps.

Mid-Atlantic Quilters' Web Ring

I got the idea today to create a web-ring for the quilters in the mid-atlantic area. The thought popped into my head after surfing other quilting rings this morning. I know, like I need another thing to do on my list LOL.

Anyway, if you are a quilter, and you live in New York, New Jersey, Deleware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia or North Carolina you are welcome to hop on the ring. Nothing is more fun than seeing what other quilters are doing and gaining inspiration and motivation from each other.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of those shows I have to watch every year. So when Beth told me I could find out my Grinch name I couldn't wait. Needless to say I was surprised..... Crabbycrab Fussyhead.

Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt

If you haven't had the chance to visit Bonnie Hunter's Web page or her blog, you are missing something special. She is the queen of stashbusting.... using scraps like you wouldn't believe. The latest project has turned into a mystery quilt, Carolina Crossroads. I am making mine with black/white/red fabrics. Here are my 100 rail fence...... now for the second step.............. 100 little 3.5 inch nine patches with a red square in the corner.

Black and White Churn Dash Blocks

I am a member of the Blockswappers yahoo group and we are doing a black and white churn dash swap. We swapped out 12 inch blocks last month. In January we are swapping out 9 inch blocks and in February 6 inch blocks. The 3-inch blocks are a possibility. This is going to look really cool when it is finished.

My BFF

I cannot continue posting to my blog without including a picture of my BFF (Best Friends Forever). Beth and I have decided that she and I are long lost sisters. I actually lived in Maryland when she was born. Of course I was 11 when that happened, so she is my long lost baby sister.

Anyway, here she is, using her cute little pink iron at retreat. Every once in a while I threw something on her little board 'cause I was too darn lazy to work my way through the maze of chairs to get to the big board.

92 Coasters Later..............

Well, once I got started I kept going. So, all in all, I made 92 coasters. They are divided and tied into groups of four each. Some will be gifts, and some will be saved for the boutique table at our guild quilt show.

These are sooooooooooo easy. But next time I think I'll start with 5-inch squares instead of 4.5-inch.
