Coasting into Christmas

I started working on these Criss-Cross coasters today while I was on the phone with my BFF Beth for two hours. Thank goodness she has unlimited long distance calling LOL. Calling from Maryland to PA can get a bit pricey.

Anyway, I adjusted the coaster instructions a little. Instead of using a lining fabric, I used a piece of flannel. And I used my walking foot. These are going together so quickly. I am making sets of four coasters for Christmas gifties. Hope all the folks who receive them enjoy them.

Christmas time is here...............

Happiness and Cheer. Fun for all, the children call, their favorite time of year. (Think Charlie Brown).

I've been busy. I made three of these tablerunners using the Holly Jolly charm pack and the red stripe coordinating fabric from Moda. I love these fabrics!!!! I only wish I had gotten some more of the red stripe..... having a hard time finding it now.

I gave one of the tablerunners to my mother-in-law for the Christmas event auction (see earlier post with the green wreath wallhanging) because I decided to keep the wallhanging for me :o)

Hope everyone else is having success getting their holiday projects done. This is a first for me. Usually it is December 26 and I am saying "If I only had done that earlier.........."

Play Ball!!!

Last spring, four of our school district students (three in the middle school) lost everything to a house fire. We could here the sirens and trucks racing through town that afternoon and by the end of the school day, the email had been sent informing us of what had happened.

The boys are avid baseball fans - the Yankees are their team. With the help of friends donating fabric and my friend Beth quilting them, each of the boys now has their own Turning 20 Baseball Quilt. Their dad was very surprised. I told him that he had raised some very fine sons, and that they didn't ask for what happened to them. Besides...... everyone needs their own special blankie.
This is the first for four quilts. They are all basically the same, just the large baseball panel is in a different place in each quilt.

I am Enlightened!!!

I learned today that I can get comments left on my blog sent to me through email. AHhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! (Heavenly chorus). So, now that I have enabled that little feature I am hoping that it works and I can answer all the questions people leave now...... like what pattern did you use or what fabric was that.

Amazing what you can do when you read the instructions (Hush Beth).

Retreat!!! Retreat!!!!

Over achievers unite!!! Well I don't think of myself as an over achiever but some do. Anyway, our guild fall retreat was the first weekend of November (we got an extra hour of sleep/sewing time on Saturday night.... thank you G.W.) and with the 'bad' influene of my friend Beth, I stayed up later than usual and got lots more done.

I made a Charm Party tote with my left-over Sunshine charms - we got this done in about 3 hours. I got a Lazy Girl Summer tote done - the kit had been in a drawer for months. I got some guild swap blocks done (Use up those scraps!!!) and of course some major laughing, crying, eating and well, some sleeping.
