One night just as we were going to bed, Violet discovered the mirror in the hallway AND the 'other' cat in the mirror. It was too funny to watch so hubby got the camera and was able to shoot this picture when she sprang into the air to attack the 'intruder'. Too funny!!!!

I found this 'pattern' through a discussion on the Stashbusters yahoo list. The gal had the tutorial on her blog. Of course I didn't go back and look at the pictures before I started putting the quartered blocks back together......... why would I do something like that?? (My first grade teacher said I didn't like to follow directions). So I had to take them apart and lay them out the correct way.
This one is very scrappy. I'm sure it would work with some of the charm pack lines. I used 3.5 inch squares to make my ninepatches. What do you think?

Each year my mother-in-law asks me to make something for the annual Newburg Christmas in the Country event raffle. So this year I was good, and dug something out of my stash. This was a 'kit' I found a couple of years ago. The 'dots' and 'holes' were pre-printed. All I had to do was cut them to the right size and then whack the holes/dots into quarters. Then I sewed it all back together. The bow is my first attempt at using an applique pressing sheet... I thought it turned out rather nice. Now the dilemma is how to quilt it.

I have the opportunity to teach at my LQS (local quilt shop) and after the first of the year I am offering a class based on the One Block Wonder book by Maxine Rosenthal. The shop owner gave me the fabric to make a small shop sample and this is the result. To be honest, I wasn't thrilled with the look of this fabric - I guess it is the smokey-teal background. But after I had it all together and bordered, it looks pretty good. Now to quilt and bind it.........and send it on its way.

I found this pattern when traveling to the quilt show in Hampton, Virginia last February. I decided to use reds, oranges, and yellows cause I am a red person. Then as it came together I thought considering what age bracket I am in now LOL "Hot Flash" is the perfect title. The pattern is from Fourth and Sixth designs and is called Kinetic Energy. I have 2-3 more patterns from them and have them on the list to make. It is really easy....... just strip piecing. Just make sure you don't square up blocks when you are tired...... and end up with a smaller quilt LOL

Well it only took her a week. Violet has officially moved in, claimed her spot and gotten spoiled. Being a kitten, she stops and she drops....and then gets into the weirdest positions imaginable. She and Smokey are getting along well......... now if I could just convince her that the day doesn't start at 3:30 in the morning.
