Well I found this beautiful floral on black print and decided it would be a great stack -n- whack. Then I found the book "One Block Wonder" after I had most of the hexagons put together. So, now I am going to put it together as hexagons instead of rows and have to deal with inset seams, sort of. LOL I never do anything the easy way.

This is really a Double Wedding Ring
Don't let your eyes fool you........ this is really a Double Wedding Ring. Ok, ok............ it isn't; but it was supposed to be. My sister picked out the majority of the fabrics at Keepsake Quilting back in 1998. Of course, all quilters no that fabrics have to age...... like fine wine. I finally admitted to myself, and to her, that a Double Wedding Ring was wayyyyyyyyyy out of my comfort zone and when I showed her my Trip Around the World, she said "Make that!". So I did. This quilt is the result.

Back in Time
My daughter decided to volunteer and help her father at the annual Civil War event in our town this coming weekend. Of course, if you are going to a Civil War event you need a Civil War dress. I 'drafted' a friend of mine to make the dress, with some adjustments to the pattern of course. And after spending the day putting hooks and eyes on, and on again, and on again, it finally came together. Doesn't she look cute?
Penguin Quilt

Well you've probably been wondering why my blog is entitled "Patchwork Penguin". Some of you know me as BearPaw and of course bears and penguins are in no way interchangeable. My oldest daughter loves penguins, and I made this quilt for her. I just think it pops against the black background and the green border makes it just right. My daughter is 20, and now has two penguin quilts; one for her dorm and one for home.

2007 Guild Challenge
Our guild challenge this year was "Name that Tune". I chose to try a new technique using colored pencils and heat setting them with a hot dry iron. I copied the album cover and used an overhead projector at school to trace the picture on a piece of Kona Natural cotton fabric. There happened to be a resource period in the room I was in a the time, and the kids were fascinated by what I was doing.
So here is the result. We had to portray a song without actually using the title in the piece. Can you figure it out???

Let's see if this works again.......
Ok, here I am making my second post. I haven't had a lot of time to quilt in the past month. As a substitute teacher, May is typically the 'use 'em or lose 'em' time for teachers to use their personal days. So needless to say, I am kept busy.
I have sent a couple of quilts to a friend of mine to get quilted on her HQ16. She does wonderful work and I have no doubt that these two quilts will be beautiful. I am entering them in my guild show this summer, so will be busy putting binding and a hanging sleeve on them when I get them back.
I do have one quilt I need to pin-baste and straight line quilt. It is a block swap quilt from guild this past year. I'll post a picture when I get it finished.
Hope everyone is having some wonderful quilting time.
Hugs for now!!!
